SPS/IPC/Drives 2009: Baumüller presents
integrated engineering and innovative drive components
Nuremberg. Efficient automation begins with
engineering. Automation concepts that are intelligently planned
and correctly designed from the beginning save costs, time
and energy. At the SPS/IPC/Drives in Nuremberg from November
24 to 26, Baumüller will demonstrate its ProMaster Engineering
Framework to show how intelligent automation solutions can
be tailored to the respective machine topology without losing
focus of the system as a whole. Further highlights at Booth
560 in Hall 1 will be the water-cooled servo motors and the
converters from the b maXX range with improved overload capacity
and higher rated currents in the same unit size.
The more individual automation systems are tailored to the
respective machine concept, the more savings potential and
competitive advantages can be attained by the mechanical engineer,
especially in the form of a significantly reduced time-to-market.
Here it pays to look at the big picture: efficient engineering
and a wide range of scalable drive components from Baumüller
significantly contribute to an integrated and flexible design
of the automation architecture from the control level to the
field level – whether a central, decentral or hybrid
machine topology is required.
The easier it is to visualise complex machine functions in
application software, the faster and more cost-effective high
performance automation concepts can be configured. In a live
presentation, Baumüller will demonstrate the speed and
ease of the ProMaster Engineering Framework in creating new
application software and for the commissioning of machines
and systems - including comprehensive safety features - in
just a few mouse clicks.
For higher efficiency on the product level, servo motors
from the dynamic DSD range and the compact DSC range are now
available with water cooling in the frame sizes 71 and 100.
They not only have a significantly more compact design and
therefore a considerably higher power density than the previous
series, but it is also easier to integrate them into existing
machine concepts – particularly when there is already
cool water in the machine as a result of the process requirements.
The exact setting of the drive to the performance requirement
for each application is another important step in attaining
higher efficiency. The overload capacity and rated load devices,
b maxx 4600 and b maXX 4700, are designed for such applications
where the drive solution is pushed to its maximum capacity
for only a short period or, alternatively, a constant maximum
performance is required. This means that much faster clock
cycles and higher productivity of machines and systems can
be achieved. With these units Baumüller increases the
power range of the tried-and-tested b maXX converter series.
